about the event

Following the successful 2023 convention marking the 30th Anniversary of the Indian American International Chamber of Commerce, the IAICC 2025 Convention is set to take place at a crucial juncture in the US political landscape. The change in presidential administration, coupled with an uncertain economic outlook, presents new opportunities and challenges for the evolving relationship between the US and India, as well as the broader business community. While the US-India relationship continues to strengthen due to evolving geopolitical realities, it is crucial to assess the economic implications of the new administration’s priorities.

The business communities in both the US and India face uncertainties stemming from the broad economic landscape and potential policy changes under the new administration. These changes may impact various sectors, including AI, Science & Technology, Security & Defense, Energy, Infrastructure, Environmental Sciences, Health & Pharmaceuticals, Nuclear and Space Technology, Agriculture, and Education.

The two-day event in Washington, DC, will offer an invaluable opportunity to assess and understand the impacts of the policy changes by the new administration that impact the growing synergy between the US and India, while also impacting collaborations with the rest of the world. It will also focus on strategies and approaches the business community can adopt to navigate policy changes and economic uncertainties. Thus, the convention’s primary aim is to analyze the opportunities and challenges that will emerge by the time the new administration finishes three months in office and propose strategies that will allow businesses to succeed in a very dynamic and challenging landscape consisting of political and economic changes.

High-level dignitaries from the United States Government are expected to attend, including key leaders from various US public sector (Federal, State, and Local) agencies, representatives of SBA, MBDA, OSDBU, and experts in Acquisition & Mentor Protégé programs. Additionally, key government representatives, thought leaders, and industry executives from India and other countries will be present to share their insights and expertise.

Dr. Mohammad Bhuiyan:

"Navigating the New Tariff Economy: Challenges and Opportunities for Entrepreneurs"

We meet at a moment of both challenge and opportunity. The tariffs proposed by the Trump Administration are poised to reshape the economic landscape for businesses of all sizes — but especially for entrepreneurs, who must adapt swiftly and smartly to change.

Tariffs, as you know, function like taxes on imported goods. While intended to protect domestic industries, they also risk driving higher costs across the supply chain — from raw materials to finished products. That reality can squeeze margins, drive up inflation, and impact consumer demand, especially for small and mid-sized businesses that can’t easily absorb price hikes.

The future belongs to those who prepare today for the disruptions of tomorrow. Yes, tariffs present real risks — but they also demand the very skills that define entrepreneurs: agility, creativity, and courage. This session will help you to do just that. Let’s not just survive this transition — let’s lead through it.

Mr. Darold Hamlin:

Connecting the Dots for Workforce Development to Support America’s Readiness and Economic Competitiveness

1. The biggest issue no one talks about is the gap between our education and workforce development programs and America’s military and economic leadership – not a topic in the last Presidential campaign.

2. The latest Trump Executive Order on Skills training did not include DoD, which has a severe STEM and technical workforce shortage.

3. India is focusing on workforce development as part of its Africa policy.

4. The importance of advocating for STEM and technical workforce development as part of America’s domestic policy and foreign policy, especially for Africa.
