KV Kumar is the epitome of volunteerism and community service. For more than 50 years KV has been known and respected for his 150,000+ hours or more than 17 years of volunteer work. He continues to serve and mentor the small businesses, entrepreneurs, people with brain injury, youth and community organizations and individuals in need of help.  

 

Small Business Advocacy:  

KV is an ardent supporter of small businesses and entrepreneurs. He has helped by bringing them together with corporations, governments and NGO’s through conventions, networking, mentor-protégé programs, business forums, 2 seminars, articles, media interviews and one on one advisory sessions. Contributed significantly to US-India Trade & BiLateral Relations (a few listed below);  

 

Contributions to US-India Trade & Bi-Lateral Relations:  

KV through IAICC, was instrumental in signing of the MoU between U.S. Small Business Administration and Government of India’s SME in New Delhi in January 2007 with the assistance from the AMCHAM (New Delhi).  

U.S. India “Strategic Trade Authorization (STA1)”; Removal of U.S. sanctions against India; Reversal of Administration decision on student visas and entry ban of H1B visa holders and their dependents till the end of year; U.S. India Nuclear Pact; India Defense Pact” initiated under President Clinton, continued under Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations; Pursuing India’s membership to U.N. Security Council. Arranging meetings between Indian and American Business, Civic and Political Leaders. Working closely with both U.S. and Indian officials KV helped bring harmony and expand trade relations between the two countries. Actively participated in the US Trade Pact; “USMCA” and Opportunity Zone Initiatives which are beneficial to Indian American enterprises. KV has served in many important positions in Federal, State and Local Government, Corporate and Civil positions to contribute and help the cause of small business.  

 

Advocacy & Service to Brain Injury Community:  

Kumar, as a survivor of head Injuries (1992-93), has dedicated his resources to help survivors and their families. He is very passionate about serving the brain injury community. KV has served on several boards, commissions and committees including U.S., International Brain Injury and Arizona Brain Injury Associations, Red Means Stop Coalition, three terms on Arizona Governor’s Council on Head Injury and two terms on Arizona State Rehabilitation Council.  

One of KV’s main contributions was his unwavering focus and support to the “Traumatic Brian Injury Act of 1996” passed by U.S. Congress which serves over five million persons with brain injuries. He was recognized and honored by the U.S. Brain Injury Association for his Unheralded Advocacy and lauded by U.S. Senate & Congress. California State Senate honored KV for his contributions and California Brain Injury Association thanked KV and highlighted the benefits of TBI Act. KV has helped many persons with brain injury, who were suicidal and had many obstacles. 

 

Work Experience: Management Consultant & Senior Executive  

Formerly President & CEO, American Systems International Negotiated and signed the Strategic Alliance Partnership Agreement with NELCO (Tata Group), and led the company’s business development efforts successfully.  

The World Bank, Washington, DC and the Asian Development Bank, Manila, Philippines: Served in various capacities: Developed the “Bank-Group-Guidelines for Project Completion Reports” used in post-project evaluation of the World Bank Group financed and or implemented projects. Prepared over 200 multi-million-dollar project reports on Project Completion/Evaluation; Sector specific studies; Special Studies; and Management Policy Review studies. On deputation/loan from the World Bank from 1979-82 at the request of Asian Development Bank, Manila: Assisted with setting up of the Monitoring and Evaluation Systems. Reviewed Policies and Procedures in the Budget, Personnel, Training & Management Systems Department and proposed recommendations. Turned around several small and mid-size companies in California, Arizona and India.  

KV has founded/co-founded many organizations including: Indian American International Chamber of Commerce; Founder, First Liberty Bank Corporation & the First Liberty National Bank, Washington DC; India Club of the World Bank Group & International Monetary Fund; “Help the Senior Citizens”, Volunteer Group created during Mayor Walter Washington: Secretary, The World Bank Group Staff Association; Kannada Koota of Greater Washington, DC. Founding Member, U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
