On June 25, 2026 professionals from across industries gathered at Bowie State University with a common purpose, to better understand how Artificial Intelligence is changing the workplace and, more importantly, how they can use it responsibly and effectively in their own careers.

Hosted by the Indian American International Chamber of Commerce (IAICC), Washington, DC, in partnership with Radiant Digital and Bowie State University, Reskill With AI: Tools & Skills for Career Transition brought together professionals, job seekers, educators, and industry leaders for an immersive learning experience focused on practical AI adoption.

Instead of discussing possibilities for the future, the workshop focused on what professionals can start doing today. Every session was designed to help attendees build confidence, strengthen decision-making, and develop practical skills that can be applied immediately in the workplace.

The Workshop Designed Around Real Workplace Needs

The program wasn’t built on assumptions; it was shaped by what professionals themselves said they needed. Before the workshop, participants shared the challenges they face while adopting AI in their organizations.

The pre-workshop survey revealed that 64% of participants preferred practical AI use cases over theoretical discussions, 48% were already using AI tools in their weekly work, 29% identified team capability as their biggest barrier to AI adoption, and 38% said their organizations needed clearer AI governance and policies.

Those insights became the foundation for the day’s learning experience.

Turning AI Into a Practical Workplace Skill

Throughout the day, participants explored how AI can support better decision-making while maintaining responsible and compliant practices.

Sessions covered structured prompting techniques, evaluating AI tools for business use, using AI within Google Sheets, improving project and product management workflows, understanding the growing role of Agentic AI, and developing a realistic 90-day implementation plan.

One message resonated throughout the workshop: “The risk is in the input, not the output.”

That simple statement became a powerful reminder that successful AI adoption is not just about selecting the right technology, it’s about using it responsibly.

As participants worked through hands-on demonstrations and collaborative discussions, AI quickly became less intimidating and far more practical. The focus shifted from asking what AI can do to understanding how it can be applied thoughtfully in everyday work.

By the end of the session, attendees had developed a structured prompting framework, evaluated AI platforms using a practical decision scorecard, identified potential AI risks within their own workflows, created governance guidelines they could introduce within their organizations, and built a personalized 90-day implementation roadmap.

These weren’t simply workshop exercises. They became practical resources that participants could take back to their teams and begin applying right away.

Learning from Leaders Driving AI Readiness

The workshop was strengthened by the perspectives of leaders who are actively shaping conversations around workforce development and AI adoption.

Seeyew Mo, Senior Advisor for Cyber Maryland and former Assistant National Cyber Director for Workforce, Education, and Economic Advancement at the White House shared valuable insights into the intersection of AI, cybersecurity, and the future workforce, helping participants understand why responsible AI adoption has become a strategic priority across industries.

IAICC also extends its sincere appreciation to Provost Dr. Guy-Alain Amoussou, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Bowie State University and Yvonne Harris, Vice President for Research & Innovation at Bowie State University for their partnership and support in making this workshop possible at Bowie State University. Their commitment to workforce development created an ideal environment for meaningful learning and collaboration.

The workshop also opened with remarks from L. Larry Kibler, Senior Director of Strategic Solutions at Keen Technology Consultants International, Inc, who encouraged participants to view continuous learning as an essential part of professional success. His message emphasized that adaptability, curiosity, and willingness to embrace innovation will remain critical as AI continues to reshape the future of work.

The workshop’s hands-on sessions were expertly delivered by Aleksandar Nedelkovski, Manager, Organizational Transformation & AI Enablement, Certified IBM AI Engineer at Radiant Digital and Avantika Prativadhi, AI engineer at Radiant whose engaging demonstrations and practical approach made complex AI concepts accessible, interactive, and immediately relevant to professionals from diverse backgrounds.
