About The Event
America’s education system fails to produce a sufficient number of American STEM graduates to meet national security and economic needs. U.S. employers are unable to fill nearly 2.5 million job openings in STEM-related occupations.
The US is the third-ranked country in the world in STEM Graduates (800k); however, half come from other countries.
The Indian American International Chamber of Commerce (IAICC) understands that a national program that addresses STEM jobs for Americans is needed to:
- Positively impact the earnings of individuals,
- Increase public and private sector employment, and
- Enhance the quality of life in all American communities.
This very important session will discuss specific approaches to increasing STEM-based opportunities for Americans and the related business opportunities.
Specific topics include:
- The need to advocate for the STEM legislative agenda and leadership from the Indian-American political and business communities
- The connections between Defense (War) funding and required STEM investments.
- The need to leverage the TRI Caucus to pass legislation with appropriations (Investments).
- The potential of funding for Research and educational partnerships between African/Indian and American universities, including student exchange programs.
- Investments to build the infrastructure at Minority Institutions, including HBCUs.
- Prioritizing the importance of STEM investments and their relationship to economic growth.
- The business opportunities related to STEM training and development, and
- The critical role of IAICC members in providing job opportunities to Americans trained in STEM-based skills.
